How To get the Best Pictures You Can!
The Real secret of how to get the best pictures you can starts with knowing your subject. Some great photographs are nothing more than being in the right place at the right time, but all of the rest are a product of good research! Let's say you were interested in photographing Moose. Would you go to the Grand Canyon? No? Where would You go? By doing some research you discover on of the best places to see Moose in the Lower 48 is Yellowstone National Park.
But Where in Yellowstone?
Digging alittle deeper, you find that Moose like to browse in and around lakes, ponds and other wet areas. You also find that they are most active in the early morning and late afternoon. Don't overlook one of your best sources of information, Park Rangers! Armed with this information you are better equipped to get some really outstanding photographs of Moose than just a casual visitor to the park.
Case in Point
Stacy and I had taken a 3 day weekend to visit the Mount Shasta area in Northern California and experience the Shasta Dinner Train. Something I would highly recommend if you are ever in the area.
On the trip home we decided to visit McArthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park. When we stopped at the main gate we mentioned we were photographers and was there anything special we should be on the lookout for? The Ranger on duty told us that if we hiked down the main trail to the base of the falls, we would able to see the rainbows that appear in the mist about this time each morning.
The parking lot was full, but when we reached the base of the falls, there was just one other person there! This is something we would not have known had we not asked! We got alittle wet but the photographs were worth it.
Over the years, we have discovered many ways to make our photographs unique. We have created How To Guides on how to photograph our favorite subjects,Wild Horses, ,Ghost Towns, Equestrian-Events, Steam Locomotives, Flowers and are working on more all of the time! We hope that the guides we are creating will help You find your own perspective on these and other subjects you choose to photograph.
The most important thing to remember is that Digital Photography is FUN. Try new things, push the envelope, think outside the box!
We will be creating a Favorite Photos Page in the near future. It will contain information on how YOU can submit your favorite photographs for consideration as Photo of the Week! Check back often for updates!
