Unexpected Wild Horses in Arizona 2008
Photo Gallery 5 contains a few photographs of Wild Horses spotted in Southeastern Arizona while we were visiting and photographing Native American Sites and Ghost Towns. While we were out exploring around the Ghost Town of Gleeson, these "Gals" just wandered up to us like they wanted their pictures taken. We just couldn't turn them down!

This band of Mares seemed to be smaller, only about fourteen hands and between 800 and 950 pounds, then the horses we were used to seeing in Central and Southern Nevada. Looking at their food source, it was easy to see why they were smaller, but just as beautiful. It was a real pleasure to run into this small band of mares. Never did see a Stallion, but I'll bet he wasn't too far away!

We weren't expecting to see Wild Horses in this area and were quite surprised when they found "Us". They didn't stay long. We managed to get a few shots before they disappeared into the desert.
If we weren't on such a tight schedule, it would have been interesting to follow along with this band for awhile, to see how they live and get more photographs. Next time! You can bet that we will be making more trips to Arizona in the near future.
The next Adventure is just over the Horizon!
